Deadline Day

So, Tuesdays are the day I have to make sure the paper happens. Obviously, I don’t write all the stories and take all the photos, but I have to get it all layed out, PDF-it, and send it to the press. By 4PM. -Ish. Sometimes I make it, sometimes I don’t. It’s always stressful, and sometimes I’m wretched to be around.

A lot of that might have to do with my usual dress: jeans and a shirt, or, yoga pants and a shirt. Not exactly power outfits.

So today I tried something new: I got dressed for work. And I felt a lot better about myself, and deadline came and went without a single snark-related incident. (That I know of.)

This is the photo my husband took of me after work. My plan was to set up the tripod in some lovely corner of Austin, but instead, I stopped at the gas station on the way home and bought some cheap wine. So, the greasy bangs and uncomfortable stance of this photo is a testament to one thing: I needed a glass of wine. It’s important to show reality, right?
